McFall Students Celebrate 100th Day

Lining up across the gym floor, students did 10 claps, 10 arm circles, 10 marches, 10 toe touches, 10 twists, 10 hops, 10 high knees, 10 sky reaches, 10 frog jumps and 10 squats to reach 100! Then they counted to 20 while spinning and standing on one foot, dancing normal and dancing like a 100-year-old person might dance.

Principal, Mr. Sleeman, joined in the fun too and afterward even handed out donuts for each classroom to enjoy later in the day!

That was just the start of the fun of celebrating the 100th day. Back in their classrooms, students engaged in several activities - all emphasizing the number 100. They stacked plastic cups, made necklaces with 100 beads, searched for $100 bills in the hallways for clues to unscramble a puzzle, put together 100-piece puzzles, and even made paper gumball machines with 100 colorful gumballs - of course!

For some, the day meant looking a whole lot older too! With grey wigs, canes, suspenders, glasses and sweaters, many students and staff dressed like what they thought a 100-year-old (or older person) would look like.

Students also made their own paper crowns they wore throughout the day proudly announcing they were “100 Days Smarter!” In many classes, students brought in 100 items to show what 100 looks like. Some were 100 miniature marshmallows, 100 pennies, 100 rocks, and even 100 noodles!

One class wrote what they would buy if they had $100 and another class got to eat their own homework - making trail mix out of 10 pieces of 10 different ingredients from chocolate chips to pretzels, cereal, raisins and marshmallows.

What a fun way to learn while also celebrating the 100th day of school!
