Summer Brain Gain Courses Available

Kent Intermediate School District is offering free, two-week Summer Brain Gain courses for all students kindergarten through 12th grade. Sign up online now.

Online Enrollment For New Students is Open

This is basically a two-phase process. You will pre-register your child in the first step and receive an automated email acknowledging your pre-registration. Within two or three business days you will receive an additional email from TK Schools to complete the process.
There are step-by-step instructions to complete the process on the TK website under Enrollment. If you have questions or run into issues, please contact the building secretary for the school your child will attend.

The primary team of young elementary students competed at the regional OM competition but no primary teams advance to the state finals.

11 OM Teams Compete at Regionals; 6 Advance to State

Thornapple Kellogg Schools were well represented with 11 teams at the regional Odyssey of the Mind competition in Wayland last weekend. The district will again be well represented by six teams advancing to the state finals March 14 hosted at TK Schools.

Cathy Leaf’s kindergarten classroom looked like a toy store explosion! There were toys and games everywhere and along with it – smiling, giggling and laughing students enjoying just being kids.

McFall Elementary students got a special birthday treat from a classmate whose mother made them each a pair of mittens.

Birthday Treat Helps Keep Classmates Warm

Most kids bring cookies or cupcakes or a favorite snack to pass out to their classmates in honor of their birthday. But Zak Holzhausen had a different idea. He came home upset after one of the first snowfalls of the year. “I asked him what was wrong and he said he was upset because so many of his friends didn’t have mittens to wear outside in the snow,” said his mom, Theresa.

HS Students Turn Wood into Classroom Treasures

Give high school students a block of wood and watch them turn it into unique and personalized crayon holders for elementary teachers. Thornapple Kellogg High School woods students did just that and the results were impressive and much appreciated by teachers.

Battle of the Buildings Returns Nov. 13

TK bragging rights are one the line in the annual Battle of the Buildings Nov. 13. Members from each building within the district will compete in fun (and sometimes goofy) basketball competitions.

MS Students Share Water Lesson at McFall

Water, water everywhere! In Michigan we are surrounded by water with an abundance of natural lakes, streams and ponds so sometimes it’s hard to realize there are people in the world who don’t have quick and easy access to safe water. Where does our water come from and how does it safely get into our homes and schools and businesses? What happens if our water supply is no longer safe? What happens if we don’t have access to good water?

Four young TK students had a lemonade stand this summer and donated all proceeds to help students with negative lunch balances.

A simple children’s summer lemonade stand by some very young students is showing everyone the true meaning of kindness.
